Our platform has global reach, running in multiple countries and extending into multiple public cloud locations and even our own private colocation facilities.Conviva Technical Operations Team that runs the Conviva SaaS platform is looking for Operations Engineers to expand the team. As an Operations Engineer, you will work on large-scale systems and applications operations to continuously improve Conviva SaaS services and infrastructure for availability, performance and security. Your job is not only about keeping the critical systems and services up and running, but also proactively improve design, tune and scale the infrastructure to stay ahead of the growth curve. Familiarity with running production environments at scale is crucial in this job along with an in-depth understanding of Linux systems internals, and networking. The ideal candidate enjoys solving hard problems and has a passion for outstanding viewing experience for online video. They are enjoy working with and even contributing to open source tools and have the discipline to focus on system scalability, availability, and ease of deployment in everything they manage.

Job Responsibilities
  • Monitor Conviva web applications, compute and network infrastructure, application services, databases
  • Diagnose and resolve occurring, latent and systemic reliability issues across entire stack: hardware, software, application and network
  • Continuously improve Conviva SaaS services and infrastructure for availability, performance and security
  • Work closely with development teams to troubleshoot and resolve application and service issues
  • Perform code deployment for Conviva applications
  • Implement security best practices â€" primarily patching of operating systems and applications
  • Work with third party service/support providers for installations, support related calls, problem resolutions etc.
  • Provide periodic performance reports
  • Automate everything that can be automated

Requirements:
  • BS in computer sciences or related technical field with 3+ years experience in systems operations
  • Familiar with Unix/Linux, and bash shell scripting
  • Working understanding of firewalls and networking - understanding of standard networking protocols and components such as: HTTP, DNS, TCP/IP, ICMP, the OSI Model, Subnetting and Load Balancing
  • Demonstrated experience in network and large scale linux system troubleshooting and maintenance practices
  • Strong sense of ownership, bias for action, customer service, and integrity demonstrated through clear communication
  • Excellent written and interpersonal communication, and documentation skills
  • Capability to program in at least one language (other than Bash), ideally Python
  • Experience with a hosting provider such as AWS, Equinix, Rackspace etc. is a huge plus
  • Experience managing large numbers of diverse systems with configuration management systems like: Puppet, Chef, Ansible, or Salt is a huge plus
